Yes, the
Easter where we all eat Hot Cross Buns and Easter eggs. The weekend when the bunny always makes
the kids look for the chocolate eggs, because that is just what we do.
When it
rains almost without doubt in the Cape Town region every year. When we all get two extra days off to
go away for the long weekend. Why
wouldn’t you?
So someone
thought they could cash in on the whole Christian faith.
Why not make something that could be sold every year on and around the Easter weekend? Clever thinking. Just add a cross and voila! Money comes streaming in.
Do we even think about the real reason we celebrate Easter? Do we think about the fact that there is a cross on the Hot Cross Buns? Or do we know why we eat Easter eggs? Why there is a cross on hills around the country around this time?

Do we take
a moment for the one that made all this possible?
Jesus died
on the cross on the Friday and was resurrected three days later, which is what
Easter is really about. His love
for us is so much bigger than we can understand. I mean He loves people like you and me…
Leaves me
thinking, because I know how much I have messed up in my life. Why would He do that for me? Why does His love never fail? Why does He not hold resentment towards
me like people do? How can He just
forgive and forget?
I don’t
know the answers to any of these questions, all I know is that He feels the
same about you as He does about me.
I am not sure what He thinks about the buns or the eggs, but with so
much grace and compassion, I could only imagine what He is thinking. I would love to have so much grace and
compassion as He does. Imagine we
don’t hold grudges and we forgive and forget everyone that hurts us. Imagine no one has a grudge towards you
or me… Wouldn’t that be fantastic?
Enjoy your Easter!!
