Duty free for all

The Speyer Dome or Cathedral
The view from the dome

Germany is a beautiful country, with an abundant array of things to do and see over the festive season. There are many Christmas markets, or Weihnachtsmarkt as they call it, where you can buy all kinds of things.  The general idea is to have a cup of Gluhwein to warm you up while you are at the market as well.  It is a spicy warm drink that contains alcohol.

During the day you can visit Castles, Palaces and Cathedrals.  It was amazing to hear of some princess who received 250 new dresses each year, custom made of course.

They also have the most amazing indoor play centers for kids, where you can jump on trampolines, run up a volcano and hide in the labyrinth.  The labyrinth has enough room for adults to enjoy hide and seek with the kids. The indoor swimming pools in Germany caters for both adults and children.  They have spa's, sauna's and jacuzzi baths for the adults and a wave pool, water slides and many more things to entertain the children.

A fun game to play anywhere in the world...

On my return I was inspired by the brochure in the Duty free shop to write this blog.

The brochure had a 'Duty free for all' stamp, which reminded me that we also have free access to something.  In today's society nothing is for free, except this one thing, "Life".

It notes in Romans 6:23 that God gives us a life that lasts forever.  We all have access to freedom in this gift, the tax is not the only thing that has been taken off by the owner of this freedom, but He also took the rest of the price away.  It is totally free.

Psalm 23:1 says that because the Lord is my shepherd, you will have everything you need.  In the fifth verse He tells you that you are a guest, you are anointed with oil and you will have abundant blessings.

'Duty free prices for all passengers' was the other slogan on the brochure.  Which means, if you are not a passenger travelling across international boarders, then you do not have access to the specials given at this shop, as you would not have access to the actual shop.  The Duty Free shop is situated in the International section of the airport after you have gone through customs,  it is a privilege to these passengers only.

To become a 'passenger' on the flight of life, all you need to do is confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that Jesus was raised from death and you will be a passenger on this flight.  (Romans 10:9)  So get on, and enjoy the ride of your life!!
